I can't install my drain

To install a drain through the DIY technique can be tough, provided you have all the tools and equipment to perform the task. However, do not take risk with such a volatile thing and instead call a professional plumber, who are the expertise and the tools to install your drain. Residentail plumbers are always very handy with general plumbing, drain line and sewer line installation, repair and replacement.

How do I replace a new drain plug when it has been

Look at the back of the drain pipe directly below the sink. There is something that resembles an oversize nut that can be turned; turn it like a nut to loosen it. As soon at it is completely separated from the threads, hold on to the nut and the rod that goes right through the nut. Using one hand to hold onto the nut and rod at the same time, push the rod into the drain and rotate it downward a little. Drop the new drain plug into drain with the tab (with a hole in it on the bottom) facing away from you with the other hand. Now comes the slightly tricky part. Use hand to hold onto the nut and rod and use the other hand to hold onto the new drain plug in the correct orientation. Back off the rod away from the drain a little bit and drop the drain plug a little to align the hole (on the tab) with the rod. Now move the rod back into the drain and ensure that you've inserted the rod onto the new drain plug by rotating the rod up and down. Once everything's in place, tighten the nut back. The nut should be tight, but not too tight or the drain with be hard to open/close. Hand tighten it only, don't use a wrench. A common mistake is to not have the nut aligned properly when you start tightening it, just be sensible about it. An experienced person can do the whole job in under 2 minutes.

Moen Toilet. New toilet lever has a square fitting that is too large for the hole in the tank. Any ideas what to do?

Question edited for clarity. Question moved from Misc Category. Moen are a fairly high end supplier and they want to be responsible for making and selling spares that only fit their fittings, no 'Universal' parts off Amazon. You need to buy a handle specifically for their model toilet tank. The best way is to take the old one to a Plumbing Supply Store rather than a big box store. Having said that, Home Depot is an authorised spares supplier. https://www.google.com/search?q=Moen+Toilet+replacement+flush+handle ..

I have the Moen shower/bath faucet seen in the attached picture. I know this sounds weird but I want the bath to run colder water. When I have the handle turned to max cold I feel a good shot of cold water but then after a few seconds it gets closer to room temp. I want it as cold as it can possibly be ideally. Aka the same as the water that comes out of those hose for example. My kitchen and bathroom sinks both get colder than the bath. Does anyone know of any ideas that may help me achieve this?

Hi, Assuming the shower valve is set all the way to the cold position, you may have a defective mixing cartridge. Some Moen valves have attached shout off valves in the wall so you they can be turned off locally but others will require that you turn off the main water vale for the house. Replacement cartridges are usually available from most home improvement stores or you could check Amazon. You will need the model number and type of the cartridge.

Moen Waterhill Bridge S713NL. How to replace cartridge? Can't get handle off?

Question edited for clarity and add CAPS. Here is the parts breakdown. Your model is discontinued. The hand lever unscrews, the part that holds the handle looks like a push fit and then there is a screw collar holding the cartridge. Increase Zoom to 200%. https://assets.moen.com/shared/docs/exploded-parts-views/s713pt.pdf It looks like they disagree with me, and their way is easier!

I installed my 1222B moen cartridge but wont go all the way in so I can insert the clip. pls help

For my 20 year old Moen 1222, I found the outer O-ring supplied with the OEM part was slightly too large to overcome the beveled brass edge near where the key fits. I reused the old, failed part's O-ring and it went in fine. If you do this method, you should check for leaks prior to restoring. I find Moen is not my preferred supplier of choice for plumbing fixtures.

Is my Moen one handle shower handle operating correctly after I replaced it with a new 1225 Moen cartridge?

Question moved from Vacuums. If the pictures here are correct, there are 'variations' to the 1225 cartridge. No, it doesn't sound as though yours if fitted correctly. There is normally a stop on both sides of hot and cold to stop it spinning 360'. https://www.google.com/search?q=1225+moen+cartridge

I replaced a 96909 cartridge with a Moen 1222 cartridge. Now the handle work incorrectly- never pointing to off, when off.

It sounds like the 1222 cartridge is not compatible with your faucet. You may need to replace the cartridge with the correct one for your faucet. If you are unsure of the correct cartridge, you can contact Moen directly for assistance.

We can't turn off water to tank with new Moen replacement kit # 5305. Need to turn off manually.

Sounds like your replacement kit is missing a part or not installed properly. Could be a washer not in place or a valve not working properly.

Why did my Moen 3838 Castleby Four Function Showerhead suddenly start gushing water from the base when in shower mode?

There could be several reasons why your Moen 3838 Castlebar Four Function Showerhead is suddenly gushing water from the base when in shower mode. Some possible causes include:
  1. Clogged showerhead: If the showerhead is clogged with mineral buildup or debris, water may not be able to pass through properly, causing it to gush out of the base.
  2. Leaky diverter valve: The diverter valve is responsible for directing water to the showerhead. If it is damaged or worn, water may leak out of the base of the showerhead.
  3. Damaged showerhead: If the showerhead itself is damaged, water may be able to leak out of the base.
  4. Incorrect installation: If the showerhead was not installed properly, water may leak out of the base.
  5. Loose or damaged O-ring: An O-ring is a small ring that seals the connection between the showerhead and the water supply. If the O-ring is missing or damaged, water may leak out of the base.
It is best to check the instruction manual and troubleshoot the issue or contact Moen support if needed. If the issue is not resolved by troubleshooting, it may be best to consult a plumber or contact Moen support for further assistance.

Pulled a moen 96909 and replaced with a 1222. the 1222 does not go in the bore far enough to put the clip back in.

It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with the installation of the Moen 1222 cartridge in your faucet. The Moen 1222 cartridge is designed to be a direct replacement for the Moen 96909 cartridge, so it should fit in the same way. If the 1222 cartridge is not going in far enough for you to reinstall the clip, there may be a problem with the cartridge or with the faucet itself.

Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

Make sure the cartridge is oriented correctly: The Moen 1222 cartridge has a specific orientation that it must be installed in to work properly. Make sure that the cartridge is oriented correctly and that the stem is facing the right direction.

Check for any obstructions: Make sure that there are no obstructions in the bore or in the faucet that could be preventing the cartridge from being fully seated.

Make sure the faucet is properly disassembled: If the faucet was not properly disassembled before installing the new cartridge, it may not be seated correctly. Make sure that all of the internal parts of the faucet have been removed before attempting to install the new cartridge.

If these troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, it may be necessary to seek the assistance of a professional plumber. It is also possible that the Moen 1222 cartridge is defective, in which case you may need to return it for a replacement.

How to Install Shower Curtain

If you are going to use both a shower curtain and a shower liner, you have two options for installation. You can either use one rod and one set of rings, or you can use two rods and two sets of rings. If you used one rod, line up the liner and the curtain so they are facing one another and thread one ring through each of the corresponding grommets on the both the liner and the curtain. The curtain liner will move as one unit. If you use two rods, you need one set of rings for each, and the liner and the curtain will move independently.

Moen motion sensor faucet

Check the power to it, battery or transformer unit. Ensure that the data cable and power source cable (battery pack or AC adapter) are plugged in tight and secure. Check Batteries: If using a battery pack, ensure the batteries are installed correctly and are snug in the battery holder. Loose batteries can cause the faucet to operate erratically. Sept 24, 2020
