To set up your system to use a proxy server, right-click Internet Explorer, click "Properties." Click the "Connections" tab and click the LAN settings button (near the bottom). Click the check box under the proxy server setting and input your information. If you need a list of IP proxy servers, try http://www.hidemyass.com

How to access facebook at school when blocked

Hello,

In this article I will go over different methods of accessing facebook when it is being blocked by your school for example. None of these methods are guaranteed to work. This article can be used to access blocked sites in general.

FreeGate
1) If you are able, go to google.com and download Mozilla Firefox. It is a internet browser.
2). Using Firefox, go to google and download/install a program called Freegate.
3) Install the program and follow the instructions it gives you to setup the configuration. You will be changing some proxy settings.
Make sure that freegate is running when you are using firefox.

Switching to HTTPS
1) If you are at school, and you go to http://www.facebook.com, and it is blocked, you can try adding a "s" to http. What this does is switch from a standard connection to an encrypted one. Some administrators will not block a secured connection. Just simply add the "s" so it is https://www.facebook.com

Online Proxy
This basically hides your online movements. It is less likely to work as administrators will block sites with the words "proxy" and or common proxy sites.

1) You may be able to use an online proxy to go to facebook. The links below are to some of my favorite online proxies. Just simple go to one, enter in the URL address(in this case http://www.facebook.com) and it should take you to the website.

CTunnel
This site has some really aggravating ads, but if you can look past that it is decent.

1)If you can access this website, you can use it to visit facebook.

Setting up a private proxy server with SSL
This step is more in depth, but the pay off is that you will have your own private proxy server with SSL encryption you can use to visit any site you want without fear of being blocked or your traffic viewed. Very ideal for anonymous web browsing.

For this method, it is recommended to setup a proxy server on a Linux based computer, however, you can use Windows. Once you have a private server set up, you can set your proxy configuration in firefox to use your server.

You can read more about this step by visiting the link below.

Foxy Proxy Download

Alternatively, instead of creating a server you can pay to use one or maybe you know someone with a server. A simple google search of "proxy servers" can yield the results you want.

I hope this article was informative. Be sure to pay attention and do your class work :)

Where can I find my proxy

Did you look under the computer?
Of you don't know what a proxy server is, no need to look for it.
Don't go into network details if you don't know where to look for.
Don't use a proxy or proxy settings, because normally you don't have a proxy. you only have a proxy, if your provider or admin tells you. SO please don't try tp setup any.

I want to block facebook for all the lan users.

Setup a proxy server and black list facebook.com that is the easiest way. Route all users to the proxy server and set premissions that does not let them change the proxy settings.

How can i go to facebook at school

your school probably has a firewall set up to block certain sites.
You would need to set up a proxy server to get around this.

I would look to google app engine since it requires little technical knowledge.

You can read how to set it up here.

A simple Google search and you'll find dozens of really good PHP scripts on the Internet to help you create proxy servers in minutes for free. The only limitation with PHP based proxies is that you require a web server to host the proxy scripts and second, you also need a domain name to act as an address for your proxy site.
If you don't own a domain or server space, you can still create a personal proxy server for free and that too without requiring any technical knowledge.

Create a Free Proxy Server with Google App Engine Here's one such proxy site that you can build for your friends in China or even for your personal use (say for accessing blocked sites from office). This is created using Google App Engine and, contrary to what you assume, the process is quite simple.
Step 1: Go to appengine.google.com and sign-in using your Google Account.
Step 2: Click the "Create an Application" button. Since this is your first time, Google will send a verification code via SMS to your mobile phone number. Type the code and you're all set to create apps with Google App Engine.
Step 3: Choose a sub-domain* that will host your proxy server. Make sure the domain is available, agree to the Google Terms and click save. The sub-domain is also your App ID that will uniquely identify your proxy application.
For this example, we'll use labnol-proxy-server as the App ID though you are free to choose any other unique name.
Step 4: OK, now that we have reserved the ID, it's time to create and upload the proxy server application to Google App Engine. Go to python.org, download the 2.6.4 MSI Installer and install Python.

I have a DSL line from Airtel, and my Zyxel P-600 works OK on a single PC. But when I use it on LAN, it doesn't work. Please help.

Hello manishbillor,

Have you tried using a proxy server on the computer that's connected to the ZyXel P-600? Using a proxy server makes it possible to share an Internet Connection on a LAN. A good free proxy server can be downloaded from the analogX web site:
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/Network/proxy/Freeware.htm

The browsers on the other computers need to be setup to use the proxy server machine address. Search for 'proxy' on the browser's help menu option to determine how to do it (very simple).

If this solution is helpful please click a thumbs-up rating below.

Have a great day,
