I have a mac and downloaded os 10.6.7. since i did that, facebook will not load and stay with just the top bar. I uninstalled chrome and re installed it but same issue. Facebook loads normally with Safari so it is a browser problem. I erased the history, the cache but still same problem.

Try to remove your google updater. Then reinstall other version of Google Chrome.
