first uninstall your yahoo messenger. then clean your registry through any registry cleaner software. and then restart your computer and install yahoo messenger.
Download Yahoo messenger from the website http://messenger.yahoo.com/download/ once it is downloaded and installed, use your yahoo id and password to login to it, then start chatting...
Go to add/remove programs and remove any and all versions of Yahoo Chat. Then download the latest version again and make sure you have the latest update for Java Script also
