whenever i insert a pendrive i get an error message that usb cannot regonize or malfunctioning has occur so please tell me solution so that i can recover my pendrive

insert windows xp cd in cd rom then move to cmd prompt then turn off explorer from task bar ..in cmd type go to windows xp drive then type format ...(pendrive ) it will ask for force dismount press y
format i hope it would work
