Memory buffer error - r07

Hi all - I know its been some time for this thread, but it helped me! When I pressed the shutter release I would hear a high pitch winding - thought it was the shutter and almost took it in for repair. Saw solution #5 - turned the AF switch on the lens to manual and back to auto - took care of the problem completely.

I have that problem occasionally with my D80 and usually turning off and back on clears it but not always. i am wondering if i hit a coupe of buttons at the same time or something confusing the processor?? i am going to contact nikon and will advise

The buffer is full. I was able to solve the problem by performing a reset to factory defaults. To do this, press the two buttons with a green dot next to them at the same time and hold for 5 seconds. On the D40 the buttons are the info button on the top and the button on the back, lower left with a magnifying glass with a plus sign on it. This will erase any previously stored settings you may have set up, but it solved the full butter r 07 problem for me.

Sorry not to have posted earlier. I followed Darvish's useful suggestion and the problem has not recurred. However, after using manual for a while I found I could also use the camera with AF set to auto. I don't know why this reversion happened. However, the D50 Manual pages 98-99 describes the AE/AF function on the menu. It is not easy to follow, but suggests to me that the problems we are having come from an intermittent fault relating to the AE lock. I seem to be OK at the minute, but a look at the AE/AF settings on the menu might help those who are still encountering this problem. Where are Nikon when we need them most?

may you have changed the settings at the AE-L AF-L button to AF-ON
press the AE-L AF-L button and maybe your camera is focusing and dont show the erroy or you can change AE-On settings to any other in the menu under the butten settings

I have the same problem with my D80 and currently trying various ways. Will let U know how it was resolved.

i had the same issue with my D50. I resolved this by leaving the camera turned on, i then removed the lens, i set the lens switch to A and also ensured that the switch on the lens body was set to AF. I then re-connected the lens to the camera (while the camera was switched on) and the camera returned to normal i.e. no error messages and working perfectly!

I tried everything and even called my teacher who was unable to figure it out either. I took it to the repair shop and apparently my shutter needs to be replaced. The bad thing is, since the D50 was discontinued it's taking forever to get the part. I've been waiting to go pick it up...having serious withdrawls.
I hope this resolves the great mystery....

Try Menu Reset in camera settings :)
