The CL code means that the "Control Lockout" function has been activated. This prevents the buttons from functioning. To deactivate it (re-enabling the buttons), hold down the power button for five seconds. See the manual for more info:

Have Kenmore humidifier model 15420. does not light up or turn on. has water ,is level, and power in outlet.it does have why looks like a sensor in the power line but no way to get it open or reset it

My Kenmore Humidifier 15420 has a code of "cf" what does it mean?

Depending on your model, the CF could mean the filter needs to be changed or that the unit needs to be reset. If your model doesn't have a reset button, you can unplug the unit from the outlet for 5 minutes.

The F error light will not stop flashing. I've changed the filter, it has water, I've unplugged it. It runs for a few minutes, then stops. Any ideas?

Try adding a pinch of salt into the water. filtered water does not humidify as good.
