Checkdisk /r will not run due to insugfficient priviliges

You should run the command from an Elevated Command Prompt. Running the Elevated Command Prompt is running the Command Prompt with administrative privileges. To run elevated Cmd, right click on Command Prompt or cmd and select run as administrator.

Hope this helps, Mrityunjay.

I had a virus and it made all my file so i cant see them ,how do i fix this. the virus is gone but my files are still not showing on my pc,, can anyone help....thanks

You need to get to the Command Prompt (black screen with white lettering) and run a command that will fix the problem.

To get to the Command Prompt click Start/Programs and look for the Command Prompt. Depending on your operating system the Command Prompt might be under Start/Programs/Accessories.

If you see the RUN command you can select it and when the window opens type: "cmd" (without the quotes) and press OK.

Once you have the Command Prompt open Copy and Paste the command line below into the Command Prompt and press Enter.

C:\>attrib.exe -r -s -h /s /d C:\*.*

I am assuming Drive C is your Local Drive with your operating system on it. That will be true for 99% of the case. If not replace the latter C above with your drive letter.

Where is the run(command prompt) in win 7

You can find the command prompt by:

Go to start and within start search type command prompt and it will bring it up on the left side.

You can also press the windows key and "R" to bring up the run dialog box. then within there you can type cmd. then hit enter and it will bring it up.
Also with Windows 7 when trying to do certain things it may not allow you to without opening the command prompt as an administrator.
You can open command prompt and run as administrator by going to start and within start search type command prompt then right click on it in the search area and select to run as administrator.

Code 80070246 how do i fix

To resolve this problem, replace the corrupted GlobalInstallOrder.xml file on the system with the same file from the Windows Vista installation media. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Obtain the WIM filter driver from the Windows Automated Installation Kit (Windows AIK). To download and install the Windows AIK, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c7d4bc6d-15f3-4284-9123-679830d629f2&DisplayLang=en (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c7d4bc6d-15f3-4284-9123-679830d629f2&DisplayLang=en)
  2. Click Start, point to All Programs, click Microsoft Windows AIK, right-click Windows PE Tools Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password, type the password. If you are prompted to continue, click Continue.
  3. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER. MD c:\MountThis command creates a folder that is named Mount.
  4. Put the Windows Vista installation media in the CD or DVD drive.
  5. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: Imagex /mount DVDDriveLetter\sources\install.wim 1 \mount
  6. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: CD\mount\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_07289f4cca5f6990This command moves to the source folder
  7. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: xcopy GlobalInstallOrder.xml %windir%\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_07289f4cca5f6990This command copies the GlobalInstallOrder.xml file to the destination folder.
