Apple PowerBook G4 Mac Notebook Logo
Posted on Nov 15, 2008

Display problems I have an Mac 12" Aluminum power book where the screenis not functioning properly. When I boot it up, the display turns on, usually ablueish screen with vertical line in the display that seem to represent thehorrizontal postion of text that should be on the screen. As I move the mouse, these vertical lines move laterally in sync with the mouse movements. Is there any way of determining if the problem is with thecable or inverter board or the LCD???

    The serial # is 4H5210J0RJ5  and Model # A1104.
The DVI output does work but I want to reload software and the DVI driver doesn't load until partway thru the boot up which works for logging in but not for reloading software. When reloading software the instructions only go to the native which is why I would like to fix the video LCD. So this really limits future use. Any thoughts????
    Thanks
    Bob

You can get a mini display port on the side to either vga or dvi out so you can hook to an external LCD and this will tell you for sure either lcd or inverter but its hard to say if its lcd or inverter but the inverter sometimes is part of the display. Do you havea serial # i can try look it up see if have inverter sep
